Management

Darby Racing P/L manages all aspects of your investment including looking after your horse's welfare, paying of bills, communicating with key personnel, arranging stable visits, as well as organisation of open days and race day arrangements.

We charge a set fee of $280 (GST incl.) per 10% shareholder per month for each horse which covers all the standard on-going costs indicated below. Annually this equates to a figure of less than $65 (GST incl.) per week. The clear benefit of this set fee is that it takes all the headaches out of the day to day hassles of owning a racehorse. This monthly fee helps you avoid normal spikes in on-going costs, having to pay multiple bills, having to contact different people involved in the care of your horse and all details associated with race days.

Our fee of $280 (GST incl.) per month per 10% owner covers the following:

  • Training fees to the designated trainer
  • Spelling fees to the designated farm
  • Pre-training fees to the designated pre-trainer
  • Vet fees (common only)
  • Farrier/Dental fees
  • Transportation costs
  • Administrative Management fees

It should be noted that our standard monthly fee does not include major race nomination and acceptance fees and major vet work (eg. major race injuries etc.) which must be considered as non-standard fees. These are generally much higher than standard race-related charges.

For your horse to be eligible for entry into a major race, it would have won considerable prize money by this stage. These higher costs would seem insignificant in relation to the size of your prize money earnings by this stage of your horse's career. Major vet fees are also not covered by our standard fee as they are difficult to predict.
