HUSSONET,
already a Champion sire in South America, unequivocally
asserted himself as one of Australia’s elite stallions
when he sired a G1 double
within just 40 minutes at Caulfield on Saturday 23 February
2008.
Arrowfield bred
and consigned 3YO, WEEKEND HUSSLER,
won his third G1 race of the season when he effortlessly
accounted for an older, more seasoned field in the Oakleigh
Plate.
The last horse
to annex the Caulfield Guineas - Oakleigh Plate double
was Dual Choice in 1970-71.
More recently
Weekend Hussler captured the Group 1 $1million
Newmarket Handicap in scintillating fashion.
Weekend Hussler’s
victory was his seventh from just 9 starts and he has
now earned his connections more than $1.8m
in prize money from an $80,000 investment at
the 2006 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale.
One race later
it was an Arrowfield-bred and consigned 2YO by Hussonet
– REAAN – who
would snatch victory in the G1 Arrowfield Stud Blue
Diamond Stakes.
Reaan
has now won three of his four starts, amassing $740,950.

Both
winners were bred by Arrowfield in partnership with Mr
Katsumi Yoshida of Japan with whom Arrowfield has a longstanding
relationship.
With his oldest Australasian progeny just 3YOs of the
current season, Hussonet
has sired two G1 winners
plus stakes winners Husson Lightning, Rios and Huiskes
and stakes placegetters Husonic, Brazen Hussey, Atomic
Huss, and My Sweet Cookie.
Hussonet
now
heads the Second Season Sires List and the 2YO Sires List.
Hussonet
is free of Northern Dancer blood and is the most dominant
sire-son of Mr Prospector
at stud.
Hussonet
was Champion Sire in Chile 2000-2005; Champion
2YO Sire of Chile five times, 1998, 2002-2005;
Champion First Season Sire 1998; and to

stakes winners, including 25 at G1 level.
