Choisir
Chestnut 1999 16.0½ hh
Danehill Dancer - Great Selection
Distance won over: 1000m to 1200m.
A
Leading 1st Crop Sire in both hemispheres.
Choisir
will be remembered in history as a racing legend. He was
an Australian Champion at 2.
Choisir had his first start on September 22, 2001 when
officially two years and three days old and collected
the Listed Breeders’ Plate (1000m) at Randwick from
Obsession and Snowland, coming from well back to win.
He
was back on track on December 29 when beaten a half-length
by Blur over 1100m and was then second again on January
12, also 1100m, before collecting the $300,000 first prize
for the Inglis 2YO Classic (1200m) at Randwick, beating
Pillaging and Mukareena.
He
held his form next start on March 2 with a 1.5 length
win in the Skyline Stakes-Gr.3 (1200m) at Rosehill from
Emerging Star, with Charlie Bub 5.3 lengths back in third
and was then just nosed out by Planchet when runner-up
in the STC Pago Pago Stakes-Gr.2 with third-placed Strictly
Smart 4.6 lengths back. |
He
was the first colt home when third in the Golden Slipper-Gr.1
(1200m) on March 23 behind Calaway Gal and Victory Vein
(Planchet and Bel Esprit were fourth and fifth) and was
then 2.25 lengths behind Victory Vein when runner-up in
the AJC Sires’ Produce-Gr.1 (1400m) and then third
behind the Bede Murray-trained stablemates Victory Vein
and Half Hennessy in the Champagne Stakes-Gr.1 (1600m)
on April 13 to end his juvenile season.
At 3 Choisir was a global sprinting sensation. In Australia
he was again a Champion and the winner of the Gr.1 Lightning
Stakes at Flemington. Within the space of 5 days at Royal
Ascot, England Choisir defeated the best that Europe had
to offer in the Gr.1 Golden Jubilee Stakes and the Gr.2
King’s Stand Stakes, before heading to the breeding
barn on top of the world to commence his stud duties.
For 2007, Choisir sired Incumbent, who won the Gr. 2 VRC
Sires' Produce Stakes. He also sired Hurried Choice the
winner of the Listed Kindergarten Stakes. All up in Choisir's
very short time at stud, he has sired 5 stakes winners
and over $2million in stakes earnings. A truly incredible
start to his stud career.

Perfect
Partner

Choisir / Stockinette
|
Perfect
Partner
started his career in Australia also under the care of
John Hawkes, winning the Listed Winter Handicap, before
being sold to Hong Kong and going on to perform in Group
races even running 2nd in the Group1
Hong Kong Mile.
In total Perfect Partner
earnt for his connections over $2million(AUS)
and became a very popular sprinter/miler in Hong Kong.
Other
closely related horses to Stockinette that have performed
well on the track include-
Ribald- winner of the AJC
Breeders plate at the age of 2
Regulations- 11 time winner
and the winner of the STC Listed Starlight stakes.
Pursuits- winner of the Listed
Gosford Guineas
Black Shoes- winner of the
VATC Blue Diamond stakes and joint head of the 1980-81
Australian 2YO Classification.
This
outstanding colt is built and bred for speed. He is a
ready made 2YO and we will be targeting all the early
2YO races. I could not have been more impressed with his
Breeze Up as I believe there is still plenty of improvement
in this colt. It is staggering to think how quick this
colt could be after his sensational breeze up in the time
of 10.16 for his 200m. |
|
This
outstanding colt will be trained by one of Australia's
leading trainers Chris Waller.
A
trip to Sydney from his base at Foxton in New Zealand
in 1998 proved the forerunner to Kiwi horseman Chris Waller
making the fulltime move to Australia.
Waller
arrived in Sydney with one horse — Party Belle —
and went home a winner.
Following
that he made more hit and run trips to Sydney where he
stayed at Rosehill before eventually making the move permanent.
|
Having
started with a small team of four horses when granted
stables at Rosehill, Waller now has around 35 thoroughbreds
in full work and the team is steadily becoming stronger.
In
2006 he won the Gloaming Stakes at Rosehill with All Black
Gold and that galloper went on to run second in the Group
1 Spring Champion Stakes.
Waller also prepared the well bred Shinzig for a Group
3 win in the Schweppes Cup at Caulfield in 2005 before
it ran a creditable fourth in the Group 1 Australian Guineas
at Flemington.
Waller
is a regular at the major carnivals around Australia and
is an active buyer at Australasian yearling sales as well
as venturing to the UK to purchase tried horses.
Waller began his career with horses back in his home town
of Foxton with trainer Paddy Busuttin.
He was travelling foreman for Busuttin and had an association
with stable veteran Castletown which ran third in the
1992 Melbourne Cup behind Subzero. Waller
took over Busuttin’s Foxton stables when the trainer
took up a Singapore training contract.
Now
firmly entrenched among the top echelon of trainers in
Sydney, Waller plans on being a mainstay at Rosehill for
many years to come. |
